Agenda:  

NJ Cannabis Insider Awards show is set for June 8 in Carteret to recognize achievements in the cannabis industry. CMMNJ, and organizations affiliated with CMMNJ Board members (F.E.M. and CannaCoverage), vie for awards. 

Senate President Nick Scutari (D-Union) plans a hearing on S2934, the “Psilocybin Behavioral Health Access and Services Act.” It authorizes the production and use of psilocybin to promote health and wellness.

Delaware's Legalization Victory Party! 6/16/23, 6:30 – 11:30 PM.

Adults are now able to legally possess up to an ounce of cannabis in Delaware, but may have to wait up to two years before they can buy legal weed, said Zoë Patchell, executive director of the Delaware Cannabis Advocacy Network. 

Minnesota will legalize cannabis and nearly half of Americans and over two-thirds of North Americans will live in a state/country that has ended prohibition.

For one year, starting 9/27/23, the CRC will accept applications for wholesaler, distributor, and delivery service licenses only from social equity applicants, i.e., people with prior convictions for marijuana offenses or who live in poor parts of the state. The move will not affect people seeking cultivation, manufacturing, or retail licenses.

CMMNJ’s 2023 medical cannabis goals:

  • insurance coverage; 
  • home cultivation rights; 
  • hospital & institutional access; and 
  • expanded qualifying conditions. 

Medical Cannabis Insurance bills:

  • S313/A3248: Costs of medical cannabis to be reimbursed by Catastrophic Illness in Children Relief Fund, PAAD, Senior Gold and VCCO. 
  • S309/A3511: Requires workers' compensation, PIP, and health insurance coverage. 
  • S782/A3932: Subsidize medical cannabis in Medicaid or NJ Family Care.

Hospital and Institutional Access: 

NJ patients in hospitals, nursing homes, state institutions, group homes and hospice are unable to access medical cannabis. Implement the Jake Honig law’s Institutional Caregivers to accomplish this!

Expanded qualifying conditions: 

Qualifying for cannabis therapy should be allowed for any condition that a healthcare professional with prescription privileges determines is in the best interest of the patient.
